Solar battery storage in Merano and South Tyrol

A battery stores solar electricity for use later in the day. Voltalps sizes electrical storage around your actual consumption and solar production.

Choosing the right capacity

We assess usable capacity in kWh, charging and discharging power in kW, and evening and overnight demand. Heat pumps and electric vehicles are considered together with PV generation. A larger battery is not automatically a better fit.

Adding a battery to existing solar PV

We check the inverter, metering, available space and electrical integration. AC or DC coupling depends on the equipment and proposed system. Compatibility is checked before a quotation.

Backup power and energy management

A battery alone does not ensure power during an outage. Backup operation requires compatible equipment, switching and suitable protection. Energy management coordinates the home, battery, heat pump and EV charging according to agreed priorities.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between kW and kWh?

kW measures power; kWh measures the amount of stored energy. Both matter when selecting battery storage.

Can any battery be retrofitted?

No. The battery, inverter and controls must be compatible. We assess the existing system before sizing.

Is a battery the same as thermal storage?

No. A battery stores electrical energy, while thermal storage retains heat. They can be planned together.

Discuss your project

Your contact is Martin Prünster, electrician at Voltalps, Mozartstraße 3, 39012 Merano. We support homes, apartment buildings and businesses in Merano, the Burgraviato area, Bolzano and, depending on the project, throughout South Tyrol. Advice is available in German, Italian and English.

Send your location, annual consumption, PV capacity and inverter model, where known. Tell us your goal: more self-consumption or backup power. Photographs of existing equipment help with the initial assessment.
